Sensitive Teeth

Many people suffer from tooth sensitivity which can effect what you eat, drink and even how you clean your teeth. This sensitivity also called Dentin Hypersensitivity can be caused by hot, cold, sweet and sour foods, and even tooth brushing. Although the pain may be fleeting, it can affect your quality of life.

Dentin, a layer of tooth structure that lies beneath the harder enamel, has nerve endings that may be very responsive to stimuli. Causes of dentin hypersensitivity may include:

  • tooth brushing technique
  • bruxism or tooth grinding
  • dietary habits
  • stomach acids
  • dental procedures
  • tooth decay

By helping our patients to manage any of the above, we can minimize or eliminate the symptoms of tooth sensitivity.

Please call Avenue Dental if you are experiencing any of these symptoms.
